DAY 1- Hong Kong Trip 2009

Day 1

We booked our flights with United Airlines ( bad choice- but cheap) and we had to check in at 4am at T3. It didn't turn out as I planned - i hoped the kiddos will be asleep thruout the entire checking in. but they woke up the moment we left the house. Hiaz...
As it was still early after we checked in, we had an early breakfast and let the kiddos roam around.

We boarded the plane at abt 650am and i must say that the service kinda s*cks , food's horrible - snacks only infact! But it did bring us to where we were heading for..haha so much for being a cheapo...but no choice cos 4 adults with 2 kiddos , u do the sums!

We finally landed in Hongkong at abt 10.30am, and the Q at the arrival hall was crazy! We were complaining all the way n comparing the check out system betwn Hongkong's n Singapore's - we win thumbs up!
Finally we arrived at our cosy hotel -L'Hotel Nina at abt 1230pm, jus in time for lunch. We unpacked briefly n zoomed out for lunch at the Tsuen Wan Plaza, 5min walk from our hotel.

We quickly took a picture of the room before it was being messed up by us! We shared a room with 2 Queen size bed. In Hongkong context, our hotel room is considered big!

We stayed on the 46th storey n there was a transit at 41st floor for another lift up to our floor. These are some views taken from our hotel room

We settled our lunch at Poka cafe -nice food at economical prices. Ambience was good too. As usual, hubby's into taking pics of food nowadays (got to do with his new venture). This was my lunch - yummy!

After lunch we travelled down to Tsim Sha Tsui by the local MTR to the Cultural Centre n my intention was to visit the Teddy bear kingdom. But too bad it closed down a few years ago (the silly HK guide book wasn't updated!)
Nothing much to see there so we walked down further to the Avenue of Stars.

Strolling thru a park, we ended up at the night market just next to the Temple Street. Got some of these (pic below) as souvenirs and we headed to some backlanes for some pig's innards - hubby's favourite! I agree that some were really yummy.
I guess we were all tired and becos it was just our first day in HKG, we headed back to our hotel before 10pm and settled the kiddos to bed.
