Treasure box Annual Concert

Today is the annual concert of Treasure Box. Favian had been rehearsing this dance item with his classmates for a month. I was so excited to see my little darling on stage. Frankly speaking, I am very proud of him and that he could deliver the performance very well. Initially i was quite worried that he will have stage fright like me when I was young. However he surprised me.:)

Mischa is 3 weeks old!

How time flies....Mischa is 3 weeks old now! I am so glad that she is still exclusively breastfed and most of the time latching on. However she seems to be in some kind of growth spurts (which i read from some sources that growth spurts occurs at week 3,6 and 3months, 6months). She almost drove me nuts when she wanted to latch on every hourly and sometimes less than and hour. I had no choice but to let her suckle be it for comfort or for milk, at least it helps to stimulate for more milk.
Misha no longer wants to be swaddled, she also wants a lot of attention and is becoming more responsive when we talk to her.
Favian also shows his love for his meimei and wants to carry/ kiss her everyday. How sweet. How I wish for Mischa to grow up faster but yet cherish the infant stage she is now. Hubby and I love our little darlings to bits!
Say Cheezze...
Jaundice cleared
This morning we went for another blood test to check Mischa's jaundice level again. The level has dropped to 9mg/dL and is considered a safe range now. However Dr.Ong advised us to sun her for another 2 days before 10am and after 5pm. We were told to keep monitoring her till she turn 1 month old.
Anyhow I am glad that she does not need to be put under the light therapy anymore. Another good news is she has put on 300gm since discharged from TMC and she has been fed solely with my breastmilk since. I will continue to press on and provide her with my BM for as long as possible.
Jaundice
This afternoon we went for a 2nd heel-prick test for Mischa to test her jaundice level. While waiting for the results we were praying hard that her jaundice level has dropped. However it didnt. Her jaundice went up to 16.9 and Dr. Ong offered us 2 options - to admit Mischa or to rent a home photo-therapy kit and sun her at home.
I started to tear upon hearing that her level went up. I needed her jaundice level to drop below 15 to get the clearance from Dr. Ong that she is ok. Hubby knew that I couldnt bear to leave her in the hospital for 2 days (i sure will have sleepless & tearing nights), he decided to rent the home photo-therapy kit.
The kit was promptly sent to us the same evening and we started to put Mischa under the light to maximize her hours under the light so that she can recover fast. I had to strip her naked with only diapers on and have to ignore her wails and cries. I could not bear it any longer and i broke down again just now.
I feel the happiest when its feeding time, cos then i can pick her up and breastfeed her. However hubby feels that I spent too much time latching her and she needs the maximum exposure to the light at this point of time, he suggested that I express my breast milk and bottle feed her. Hiaz....I really hate to introduce bottle so early and afraid that she will take to the bottle and refuse to latch after that. Hence to strike a balance, I will only feed her with bottle 2x a day and the rest of the time will let her latch on directly.
Here's a shot of her face down (sunning her back) in the light box.*Sob sob...
Worried mummy
Yesterday we went for the followup checkup at Dr. EK Ong's clinic at TMC. Mischa was tested for her jaundice level and it was quite high at 14.8. I was very worried that the level will increase and she has to be admitted.
As i am TBF her, if she is being admitted for phototherapy, it will mean that I have to start expressing BM and send it to her during the stay. I tried to express my BM yesterday but the amount was pathetic. I guess it was becuse of my anxiety and worry that I didnt manage to pump out much.
I was advised to sun her before 10am and after 5pm to bring down the jaundice level. Hopefully like Favian, baby Mischa's jaundice will just disappear by itself.
No Longer Pregnant
The day is here finally! I was due for C-section early in the morning at 8.30am. However due to some delays, the ops only started sometime after 9am. After half an hour of preparation, Baby Mischa was finally born to us!
Hubby was with me when the gynae delivered Baby Mischa.
Not much birthstory to share as mine was a C-section delivery. Anyhow this is a rundown of the whole experience.
This being my 2nd C-section, by right i should be well-prepared. But no, I was feeling jittery throughout. Guess its what some describe as the 'roller-coaster' effect. When you 1st take a roller coaster ride, you are not sure what to expect. The fears just come and go and you are not warned/prepared for what comes next. Then when you try to take a 2nd ride, the fears all creep back to you...you prepare to scream at the next turn and knows what comes next - and yes this is scary!
This exactly explains my feelings. Being pushed into the OT for a '2nd ride', it sure sends shivers down my spine. Although I was all mentally prepared for this day ever since I knew i was pregnant. And it gets scarier as days goes by as the vivid images of what takes place in the OT haunts me again. I have never prayed so hard in my life and I did that the night and few min and during the ops. Also thank all my friends who prayed for me for a smooth delivery.
Everything was done, edema, Epidural was set up and I could slowly feel the numbness from my lower body downwards. I was awake throughout the whole ops and the anesthetist, Dr. Tay even chatted with me. When baby Mischa was ready to be delivered, Dr.Lim sent hubby in to witness the birth of our baby.
Dr. Tay was asked to push baby from my upper abdominal and Dr. Lim pulled baby from below. Its was like a tug of war - according to hubby. Within seconds i could hear Mischa's cries. First words that came out of hubby's mouth was : " she looks like Favian!"...hahaha...so cutie.
Baby Mischa was wrapped up and brought to me and Dr. Tay started taking snapshots of our 1st family photo ( too bad Favian could nt be ard) After the joyful moment, Mischa was pushed to be cleaned up and measurements were taken.
I was left in the ops to be stitched up. This time i felt the pain on my upper abs and couldnt bear the pain. Dr. Tay gave me laughing gas and within a few moments I drifted into 'wonderland'. I was feeling the 'high' which is one of the effects of inhaling the laughing gas, but it does ease the sharp pain. After that I was sent to the recovery room with BP and temperature taken. Soon I was sent back to my ward and Little Favian and my family were waiting for me at the reception. i almost cried when I saw them as I felt a sense of relief after the smooth delivery.
Waiting for her appearance
Tonight I will be admitted to TMC at midnight to prepare for my long-awaited C-section tomorrow morning. Hiaz....it's D-day finally...and seriously i cannot wait to 'offload' my dear girl to this world. To me it is a kind of break for me as i have been carrying her inside me for months and she seem to put on most of her weight recently making my every step a challenge.
Since 2 weeks back, I could no longer walk without looking like a penguin and sit without opening my legs wide. I missed the JL (john Little) sale, TAKA branded sale all because of this reason.
Tomorrow I can finally see Baby Mischa. Hubby is as excited as I am, but definately not as worried. The emotions within me now is full of anxiety, confusion, hope, worries and excited....
I am worried about the OPs, excited to BF my baby, at the same time worried whether i will have enough breast milk to feed her. Excited for her arrival, confused about the feeding schedule, alot of doubts even though this is my 2nd baby.
Not just worried about my newborn, but also for Favian. As i will be away from home for 4 days, I wonder what will happen to Little Favian, will daddy do a good job, will he be cranky and cannot sleep without mummy? Will he be jealous when he sees meimei? hiaz.....stupid me full of worries.
I have packed my big bag for the hospital, without a proper checklist (guess tats the way it is for a 2nd time mummy). But maybe I will bring another bag along tonight with more things added on. I shall now take a good rest and prepare or the big day tomorrow. Can't wait to see my darling tomorrow :)
