FAVIAN is FIVE!

Today is Favian's 5th Birthday! Time flies and my little Prince is now a little grown up man :) As i always like to call him 'Little man'.
Because of our new addition of Mischa this year, we have decided to just hold a celebration in school for Favian as I guess he will enjoy more than if we were to have a combined celebration with Mischa's birthday in another 2 week's time.

This year, I baked a cake and some cuppies for his birthday. Since my latest interest is in baking, I gave it a shot in making fondant covered cake. This 'project' took me a few days and half an hour before we set off to Favian's school I was just trying to finish up the legs for Spongebob!

I am most proud of the Spongebob cake and some character figurines especially Patrick Star (the creature in Pink with green underwear!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAVIAN!!! Daddy, Mummy and Mischa Loves You!!!

Mischa is 11 Months old

This is Mischa's milestones at 11 months:
• Says "mama" and "papa" to the correct parent
• Plays patty-cake and peek-a-boo
Stands alone for a couple of seconds
Cruises
Understands "no" and simple instructions
• Puts objects into a container
• Says one word besides "mama" and "papa"
• Stoops from standing position

As extracted from baby center. It is pretty accurate and the other day Mischa just shouted for 'Mama' in my room after she woke up and couldnt see me :)

Its such a sweet feeling to hear your little bundle of joy calling you for the first time. However Mischa calls her Daddy 'Papa', instead of 'dada'. Mischa is walking around more these days, with support of course, like holding onto tables, chair and her walker.
These days she fights alot with Favian too. She will snatch his toys and will scream out loud if Favian refuse to let her have his toy...I can see myself being the mediator between this pair of siblings for many more years to come...
That's Mischa at 11 months - one more month to her Big Day!

6th Anniversary

Today is our 6th ROM anniversary. As Hubby was stressed up and busy with his new project, I decided to bake a cake for him to make him happy.
it's my first time baking a proper cake with frosting. And it is my hubby's favourite Strawberry cake.

Hmm, quite funny looking but at least i tried. more to come: Favian's birthday cake and Mischa's birthday cupcakes!

The cake: Hot from the oven

After I painstakingly frosted the sides and top, added some strawberries and piped some stars..hehehehe

Added in the words. initially wanted to write : 'Happy Anniversary Darling', but realised that my cake is too small for so many words and also because i was lazy.

After hubby sliced the cake, there is certainly lotsa room for improvements

To Milk or not to Milk?

This is my super-long post for the longest time:

These few day I am so Emo. As Mischa's 1st birthday is approaching, it also marks the 'end' of my Breastfeeding journey. I want to pop champagne to celebrate regaining of my freedom! It's alike a roller coaster feeling inside me now, not sure what is coming my way, cos I am struggling between wanting to wean her off, but cannot bear to stop.

The past few months I have enjoyed so much being able to latch her since birth, and trips to outdoors are so fuss free cos I do not need to lug hot water and bottles etc. I am enjoying the bonding, conveniences and best of all seeing Mischa thrive on my BM, it makes everything well worth it.

The part I hated most is when i need to express milk for Mischa during the days she is at my mum's place. Since her 5th month, it has been a routine for us to send Mischa to my mum's place during the daytime so that I can do my work in peace and also to have some Me-time. I used to pump on the dot: 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm then at 7pm I will reach my mum's place in time for Mischa's milk feed.
Then at 7th mth my routine became: 8am, 1pm, 5pm
At 8mth: 11am, 3pm
Recently I became a lot lazier and only manage 1-2 pumping session. Usually only once a day and the yield is barely enough for her 2 feeds. Yes, this is how I HATE pumping. Thank god for the good pump I m using though, otherwise i would have given up long time ago.

I applaud myself to have crossed the 6mth mark and persevere till now. Deep down my heart,I actually hope not to stop BF and to carry on for as long as my breasts can still produce milk. But i know in no time my supply is going to be drained out soon becos of my haywire pumping routine.
I want to stop pumping, gain back my freedom but I still hope to BF her for as long as I can - can someone tell me if this possible?

I wonder if it's the selfishness inside me that created this dilemma? ? ? I sob whenever I think that I will not have this dilemma if I can be a full fledge SAHM nursing my baby and not have to worry about pumping AT ALL. But I know myself too well. Taking care of baby 24/7 is not my cup of tea. I am constantly seeking Me-time. I blame myself for not being able to make this little sacrifice. It's so tormenting to have to make this decision in life.

And now with the recent China tainted milk scandal, it kinda pushes me to carry on what i have been doing.Tell me what I can do to make things perfect...i really hope to drop my pump for good by Nov. How?

A trip to Botanic Gardens

Mischa can get off the bed!

I was so impressed with Mischa last night. I was playing with her on my bed and trying to coax her to sleep. She suddenly leaped forward and wanted to attempt to get down the platform from the edge of my bed. She actually put her butt at the edge with one hand supporting herself and her cute little feet shifting a little at a time to move herself lower. I was actually impressed by the steadiness and that she didnt just plonk herself face-down like how many babies would have done.

I wasn't quick enough to capture that 1st moment, but i placed her back on the edge and made her do the stunt again and again. I just want to record down this milestone of hers and let her see it in future. So this is her 3rd attempt:

Random Pics

My Lil Princess is becoming more and more agressive. Mischa is not one to be trifled with, look at how she fights with her bro. Oh no, i'm gonna me a mediator soon - full time!

The siblings - Favian looking so upset because he just had a 'fight' with little sis. - See Mischa snatching the water bottle from her bro?

* Grin - Mischa's signature smile whenever she got what she wanted

Enjoying, slurp slurp...Mischa enjoys drinking from straw bottles...including Favian's

Trying to bite off the straw - cheeky girl!
